Proper exfoliation creates a smooth base, allowing the spray tan to adhere evenly and last longer.

Pay special attention to rough areas such as the tops of the feet, heels, ankles, elbows, armpits, knuckles, and collarbones. These areas shed skin cells more quickly and need thorough exfoliation to prevent uneven fading.
CONSEQUENCES OF POOR EXFOLIATION:
If exfoliation isn’t done correctly, the spray tan may fade unevenly or disappear prematurely, often in blotchy patches. Our products are designed to fade gradually and evenly when the skin is properly exfoliated.

Avoid Products with High Levels of:
Many ingredients found in common creams, soaps, and body washes can cause the tan to fade quickly and irregularly.
Specific Products to Avoid:
During your menstrual cycle, your skin can become more sensitive. The PH levels can be off resulting in a lighter tan than desired so you might want to opt for a slightly darker shade.
Hormonal changes during menopause can lead to drier skin, which may over-absorb the tanning solution,, and common hot flashes can lead to sweating during development. Hydrating your skin well before your appointment and use a moisturizer designed for mature skin.
Pregnancy can cause skin to become more sensitive and reactive as there are hormonal changes happening which can lead to over or under-development. Consult with your doctor before tanning.
Exfoliating or showering right before the appointment can leave skin too raw, leading to uneven or lighter absorption of the tanning solution. Exfoliate at least 24 hours before your appointment and no less than 3 hours before.
Active ingredients like AHAs and retinols can make skin more sensitive and prone to streaking. Avoid using these products for at least 48 hours before your appointment.
Certain medications can alter the skin's response to tanning solutions. Inform us about any medications you are taking in the Client Intake form so we can adjust the tanning process if needed.
Hot water can strip away the tanning solution, leading to a faster fade. Opt for lukewarm showers and avoid soaking in hot tubs.
Both chlorine and salt water can accelerate the fading process. Rinse off thoroughly after swimming and apply a hydrating moisturizer to prevent the skin from drying out.
These products can break down the tanning solution. Use these products sparingly and wash off any residue as soon as possible.
Mineral oil can create a barrier on the skin that prevents even absorption. Oil-free moisturizers keep your tan looking fresh.
The high pH of bar soap can strip the tan. Use a gentle, pH-balanced body wash instead.
Shaving can exfoliate the skin, causing uneven fading. Shave at least 24 hours before your appointment avoiding razors with moisturizing strips, use a fresh razor and avoid shaving cream.
These can scrub away the tan prematurely. Use their hands or a soft washcloth for gentle cleansing.
